Fredericton fraud case headed to trial in October
Florence George Yousef, 55, is accused of fleecing two local women of thousands of dollars each in recent years
A Fredericton woman accused of bilking two complainants in the capital of thousands of dollars in 2019 and 2021 will stand trial on those charges in the fall.
Florence George Yousef, 55, of Willington Court, faces two indictable counts of fraud, laid by the Fredericton Police Force.
One alleges she defrauded Sheila Amos of more than $5,000 on Oct. 29, 2019, and the other alleges the same offence against Betty Fairley on March 31, 2021.
Yousef previously elected to be tried in the Court of King’s Bench by a judge alone, without a jury.
The case was before the court Monday for motions day to schedule the trial. Yousef wasn’t present for the proceeding, but defence lawyer Edward Derrah appeared on her behalf.
Justice Terrence Morrison noted the trial is set to be held for five days beginning Oct. 16, and Derrah and prosecutor Brian Munn confirmed those dates were acceptable to both sides.
