A Fredericton Police Force officer admitted Tuesday to assaulting a Hanwell woman last fall and being inside her home unlawfully, and he’ll be sentenced this spring.

What this means for his career in policing going forward isn’t clear, but it’s likely to be at risk.

Fredericton police Const. Colin Holmes, 25, of Fredericton, pleaded not guilty last fall to summary charges of assault, uttering threats and forcible entry.

Those charges alleged Sept. 24 events at the Hanwell home of Deidra Wheeler, and the case was alleged to have been one of intimate-partner violence.
