Defence counsel argued Tuesday a Fredericton woman who drained the bank accounts of two vulnerable women while caring for them should be spared time behind bars given her serious health issues.

Court of King’s Bench Justice Richard Petrie heard submissions on sentence at the Burton Courthouse on Tuesday in the case of Florence George Youseff, 57, of Willington Court.

She previously pleaded guilty to defrauding Sheila Amos of thousands of dollars between May 1 and Oct. 29, 2019, and to defrauding Betty Fairley of thousands between Oct. 1, 2019, and March 31, 2021.
