A Fredericton woman who defrauded two women of diminished capacity to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars is hoping her medical issues might spare her a stint behind bars.

The continuation for a sentencing hearing for Florence George Yousef, 57, of Willington Court in Fredericton, was scheduled before Court of King’s Bench Justice Richard Petrie at the Burton Courthouse on Monday.

Yousef pleaded guilty last year to defrauding Sheila Amos of thousands of dollars between May 1 and Oct. 29, 2019, and to defrauding Betty Fairley of thousands between Oct. 1, 2019, and March 31, 2021.

However, a couple of issues arose before the Crown and defence could make their submissions on sentencing Monday.
