Forged-cheque suspect is a no-show for court – again
Clifford James Dwight Connell, 33, also faces three prior counts of failure to appear
A Waterville-Sunbury man facing forged-cheque charges who was released on conditions for allegedly failing to attend court several times was a no-show again Monday.
Clifford James Dwight Connell, 33, of Waterville Road, was scheduled to appear in Fredericton provincial court Monday to enter pleas on 10 counts of using forged documents.
All 10 counts allege he used bogus cheques from Butler’s Roofing for several hundred dollars apiece, in October and November 2017, and April and May 2018 in Fredericton.
Connell also faces charges of stealing gas from Esso on Woodstock Road on Dec. 7, 2017; failing to attend court May 16 and Dec. 17, 2018, and Aug. 14, 2020; and violating a release order by failing to report in person to the Fredericton police station May 22, 2020.
When his case was called again Monday, Connell wasn’t present, and a judge issued a warrant for his arrest.
