Fatal-shooting suspect back in custody
One month after his release on conditions, Joshua Kristopher Raines, 49, of Holmesville, was arrested in Florenceville-Bristol on allegations of dangerous driving, breaching court order
An Upper River Valley man accused of a 2023 murder in Lincoln and who was released on conditions last month after his jury trial had to be delayed, is back in custody, accused of violating his release order.
Joshua Kristopher Raines, 49, of Route 565 in Holmesville, is accused of second-degree murder in the March 12, 2023, death of Lucas Richard Solomon Polchies.

He had been in pre-trial custody since his arrest in April 2023, up until March 17, 2025, when his defence counsel, lawyer Nathan Gorham, successfully applied for bail on his client’s behalf.
The evidence at his bail hearing, the arguments from Crown and defence, and the reasons for Court of King’s Bench Justice Jean-Paul Ouellette’s decision to grant Raines’ release, subject to the conditions of a court order, are subject to a ban on publication until the case against Raines concludes.
