Extra jail time for no-show offender
Katherine Elizabeth McIntyre, 34, of Fredericton, sees stint behind bars extended for cash-register theft, sex-offender registration violation, repeated failures to attend court and more
A Fredericton woman sought a sentence of time served plus some house arrest Wednesday for a long list of offences, but a judge said the public interest called for an extended stay in jail.
Katherine Elizabeth McIntyre, 34, of Valleyview Street, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Wednesday for her sentencing hearing for various crimes.
The hearing had originally been scheduled for Sept. 18, but she failed to show up for that proceeding. That prompted the issuance of a warrant and her eventual arrest in May.
That’s why she was in custody for the court’s second go-around on sentencing Wednesday.
