Extension granted for psych report
Tommie McGinley, 33, of Minto, accused of possession of child pornography, but defence given extension so assessment findings on issue of criminal responsibility can be prepared
A forensic psychiatric assessment of a Minto man accused of possessing child pornography isn’t ready yet, a court heard Thursday, and a judge granted an extension so the process could continue.
Tommie McGinley, 33, of Bridge Street, faces a charge of possession of child pornography, alleged to have occurred in Minto on May 22, 2024.
Defence lawyer Edward Derrah successfully applied to the court in April for a forensic psychiatric assessment to determine if his client might be exempt from criminal responsibility due to a mental disorder at the time of the alleged offence.
