Ex-salesman opts for King’s Bench trial
Brent Hayward Stewart, 49, of Doaktown, faces 26 counts of defrauding customers of DMR Auto Sales in Pepper Creek, one of stealing thousands of dollars from former employer
A Doaktown man accused of taking customers and his former employer for thousands in cash and cars chose Tuesday to have his case heard in superior court, but without a jury.
The RCMP’s financial crimes unit charged Brent Hayward Stewart, 49, of Hazelton Road, back in March with 26 counts of fraud and one count of theft.
The charges, alleging events in 2020 and 2021, stemmed from his time working as a salesman for Auto Pride Ltd., which operated the now-defunct DMR Auto Sales in the Pepper Creek area on Fredericton’s north side.
