Employee pawned stolen loot
Spicer Cole staff discovered theft by former worker Jennifer Marie Sharpe, 44, of Fredericton, when they found missing jewelry listed for sale on second-hand shop’s website
A Fredericton woman going through an addiction relapse stole items from the jewelry store where she was working and pawned them at a northside second-hand store, court heard last week.
Jennifer Marie Sharpe, 44, of Burpee Street, appeared before Fredericton provincial court Judge Mélanie Poirier LeBlanc on Thursday for her sentencing hearing.
She’d previously pleaded guilty to stealing jewelry from Spicer Cole Fine Jewelry on Woodstock Road and possessing loot for the purpose of selling them between Feb. 1, 2023, and Jan. 1, 2024.
Prosecutor Brett Stanford said since the two offences essentially alleged the same crime, the Crown would be withdrawing the second charge once sentencing is complete.
