Drunk driver was being abused
Crown withdrew counts of dangerous driving, flight against Faith Anne Rashida Mallery, 22, of Burton, after court heard she was in distress due to violent, abusive actions of boyfriend
Though her blood-alcohol level was just at the threshold for a criminal charge, she admitted this week to driving under the influence earlier this year.
But court heard that during the harrowing incident, she was being verbally abused by her boyfriend and was an emotional wreck when police finally got her to stop the car.
Mallery, 22, of Route 102, was back in Fredericton provincial court Monday to answer to several charges.
The Fredericton Police Force had laid accounts of having an elevated blood-alcohol level within two hours of driving, impaired driving, flight from police, dangerous driving and obstruction of a police officer, all stemming from a March 23 incident.
