When a Fredericton man got into a drunken car accident more than a year ago, he was homeless and in the throes of his alcohol addiction, a court heard this week, but he’s since turned his life around.

Andrew Robert John Garrah, 34, of Brunswick Street, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Wednesday for sentencing.

He’d previously pleaded guilty to Sept. 2, 2023, counts of having an elevated blood-alcohol level within two hours of driving and breaching a probation order.

Crown prosecutor Kyle Horsman said on that evening, Fredericton police officers responded to the scene of a collision between two cars on the city’s north side.
