When police encountered an impaired driver in Oromocto late last year, he was trying to change a tire on his car after hitting the curb while a pedestrian yelled at him for almost running him over, court heard.

Feliks Saimanaakuluk Gawor, 45, of Route 105 in Jemseg, pleaded guilty in Fredericton provincial court Wednesday to having an elevated blood-alcohol level within two hours of driving.

Crown prosecutor Brett Stanford said RCMP officers were dispatched to a report of a possible impaired driver on Waasis Road in Oromocto at 12:36 a.m. Dec. 18.
