Drugs/firearms case conclusion remains secret
Court order prevents reporting on how narcotics-trafficking and weapons-possession case against murder suspects Erica Lea Ann Blyth, 41, and Devon Mark Hill Hood, 27, wrapped
Two people awaiting jury trials on murder charges appeared in court Tuesday for a separate prosecution on drug and firearms charges, but how the case concluded can’t be reported - for now.
Erica Lea Ann Blyth, 41, of Wasson Road in Newcastle Creek near Minto, and Devon Mark Hill Hood, 27, formerly of Veterans Drive in Fredericton, sat in the prisoner’s dock at the Burton Courthouse on Tuesday for a proceeding before Court of King’s Bench Justice Thomas Christie.

Tuesday’s appearance stemmed from counts of possessing crystal meth, cocaine and hydromorphone (Dilaudid) for the purpose of trafficking; possessing a loaded, prohibited firearm (a sawed-off shotgun) without a licence; possessing unloaded prohibited firearms (two other sawed-off shotguns) with readily accessible ammunition; possessing seven firearms for a purpose dangerous to the public peace; possessing non-restricted firearms without a licence; and illegal storage of those weapons.
The charges - which Blyth and Hood faced jointly - stemmed from June 21, 2023, events at Blyth’s home in Newcastle Creek.
