Drug suspect sprung, co-accused on remand
Crown consents to release of Jerrod Andrew Mansfield, 39, of Fredericton, on conditions, while Philip Charters, 46, facing similar charges, asks for bail hearing to be postponed
One of two Fredericton men arrested last week on drug and firearms allegations was freed from custody on conditions this week, but his co-accused remains on remand for now.
The Crown objected to the release last week of Jerrod Andrew Mansfield, 39, and Philip Roy Charters, 46, both of Woodstock Road, after they were arrested by Fredericton Police Force officers.
Both face May 8 counts of possession of fentanyl, methamphetamines and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking; careless storage of three firearms; possession of a modified pellet gun without a licence; possession of a prohibited shotgun with readily accessible ammunition capable of being discharged; and breaches of court-ordered firearms prohibitions.
Mansfield is also accused of possessing a grenade and breaching his probation.
