A Fredericton convicted after trial of trafficking crimes professed his innocence as he was being sentenced to prison time Wednesday, even though he told police he had sold drugs.
Joel Garnet Tucker, 48, of Hawkins Street, stood trial earlier this year on Dec. 21, 2021, charges of possessing methamphetamine, cocaine, clonazepam, methylphenidate (Ritalin) and hydromorphone (Dilaudid) for the purposes of trafficking, as well as a related count of possession of the proceeds of crime.
Fredericton provincial court Judge Natalie LeBlanc found him guilty as charged, and Tucker was back before her Wednesday for sentencing.
Court heard police executed a search warrant at the home of Tucker’s then-girlfriend Hilary Whitlock, where they found quantities of the various drugs, as well as $1,500 in Tucker’s pocket.
