Domestic-violence suspect held for bail

A Bilijk (Kingsclear) First Nation man is being detained in custody pending a bail hearing on allegations that he assaulted an intimate partner Tuesday, choked her and confined her.
Seth Peterson Solomon, 25, of French Village Road, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Wednesday morning by telephone from the cellblock at the RCMP detachment in Oromocto.
He now faces charges alleging he assaulted Kiera Polchies, assaulted her by choking and/or suffocating her, assaulted her by threatening to use weapons (a pair of scissors and a Narcan needle), threatened to cause her death and/or bodily harm, unlawfully confined her and breached a condition of a judicial release order requiring him to remain within 300 feet of his residence 24 hours a day.
