A Fredericton man accused of impersonating a well-known downtown doctor has been approved for an alternate-measures program that would spare him a criminal conviction for the charge.

Trevor R. Marney, 51, of Flemming Road, was charged last month with fraudulently personating Dr. Sara Davidson on Jan. 26, 2023, to obtain custody of a child.

He was back in Fredericton provincial court Tuesday, scheduled to enter a plea to the charge, but defence lawyer Emily Cochrane said the Crown had agreed to allow her client to go through an alternate-measures program rather than the usual criminal-court process.
