Missing Doaktown boy found - RCMP
10-year-old had been missing since Sunday afternoon while riding dirtbike in community
A 10-year-old Doaktown boy who’d gone missing in that community Sunday afternoon has been located and is safe, the RCMP reports.
In a news release issued early Monday, the Blackville detachment of the RCMP said the boy had last been seen in Doaktown at about 3 p.m. Sunday riding a dirtbike, and he was reported as missing the same day.
It advised area residents to expect an increased police and emergency-response presence in the community as search efforts, both air and ground, were underway.
But in an update later Monday morning, the Mounties reported the boy had been found and was safe.
“The RCMP would like to thank Irving Woodlands, the Doaktown Fire Department, the Department of Natural Resources, the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization, as well as Miramichi, Tri County, and York Sunbury Ground Search and Rescue Teams for their assistance,” the Mounties said.
“We would also like to thank the members of the public who came to assist in searching for the boy.”
