Defence counsel representing a teenage murder suspect said with the impending receipt of the remaining Crown disclosure, his client is ready to move forward with a bail hearing.

A 17-year-old boy faces a charge of second-degree murder in the June 21 stabbing death of Mark “Barnzie” Albert Brooks II, 71, on Fredericton’s north side.

The teenager’s identity is protected as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He’s been in custody since his arrest the night of the incident in question, and he appeared in Fredericton youth court by telephone Wednesday from the youth detention facility in Miramichi.
