Even though a psychiatrist deemed an unhoused defendant mentally fit to stand trial, a judge ordered a more in-depth assessment after the accused tried to invoke a right under the U.S. Constitution last week.

Andrew Derek Washburn, 32, of no fixed address, has been trying to enter guilty pleas to a number of petty crimes for a couple of weeks, but his mental state keeps coming up during his court appearances.

He faces March 10 counts of performing an indecent act by masturbating in public and resisting arrest, March 30 charges of stealing a bike from Savage’s Bicycle Centre, setting a fire at Kings Place while being reckless as to it being occupied and again resisting arrest again.
