A Fredericton man who broke into a home while masked four years ago is hoping for a community-based sentence, while the Crown is seeking a four-year prison term in the case.
Tyson Wade McCoy, 31, of Mason Avenue, was found guilty after trial in recent months of Sept. 12, 2021, counts of break, enter and attempted robbery at a Gibson Street residence, and having his face masked during the crime.
He was back before Fredericton provincial court Judge Natalie LeBlanc for his sentencing hearing Monday.
At trial, court heard McCoy and an unknown accomplice broke into a home with the intent to steal a SKS rifle, and the unknown perpetrator was armed with a knife.
