Crash claims Burton man’s life - RCMP
Single-vehicle accident Friday morning on Route 105 kills 39-year-old driver, police report
A 39-year-old Burton man is dead in the wake of a single-vehicle crash along the old Maugerville highway just east of Fredericton, reports the RCMP.
“On March 22, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m., members of the Oromocto RCMP detachment responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Route 105 in Sheffield,” the Mounties said in a news release Friday afternoon.
“The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene as a result of his injuries.”
Police didn’t identify the deceased.
“The crash is believed to have occurred when the vehicle, travelling westbound, crossed the centre line, left the roadway and crashed into a number of trees,” the release said.
“An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick coroner's office are assisting with the ongoing investigation. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the man's exact cause of death.”
Oromocto Fire Department firefighters, Ambulance New Brunswick paramedics, and Justice and Public Safety peace officers also responded to the scene, the RCMP advised.
