Warning: This story contains graphic descriptions of a violent crime.

A former Fredericton resident serving time for his role in a 2020 stabbing death was scheduled to elect mode of trial and enter a plea Tuesday on a related count of perjury.

There was just one problem: the prison where he was being held was incommunicado, leaving the court with no way to have the killer appear in court as required.

Zachery David Murphy, 24, formerly of Kings College Road in Fredericton, is serving a life sentence for second-degree murder in the April 2020 stabbing death of Clark Ernest Hunter Greene, 31.

Murphy now faces a charge of perjury stemming from his role as a witness against his former spouse, Angela April Walsh, 25, AKA Ali Morningstar.
