Counsel issues delay drug-trafficking cases

Two of three suspects scheduled to elect mode of trial and enter pleas Tuesday in a major drug-trafficking prosecution don’t have defence counsel yet, court heard.
Eunice Gill, 67, and Kevin William Weaver, 67, both of Hawkins Street, were on the Fredericton provincial court docket Tuesday to answer to numerous charges.
The couple is jointly charged with possessing methamphetamine, hydromorphone and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possessing two stolen snowblowers and a wood chipper, storing three firearms - a shotgun and two rifles - carelessly, and possessing those firearms without a licence.
The various counts allege Nov. 30 offences in Fredericton.
