Cops seek tips on Sunday night hit-and-run
Cyclist seriously injured after being struck in Brookside Drive roundabout, vehicle left scene
The Fredericton Police Force is on the hunt for a vehicle and driver it says left the scene of a serious collision in which a cyclist was badly hurt, and it’s hoping the public can provide some leads.
The city police force issued an advisory on social media just after midnight Monday morning, asking for tips on what it described as a “serious hit-and-run collision” at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday on Fredericton’s north side.
“The incident involved a vehicle and a cyclist at the Brookside Drive and Ring Road roundabout,” the post stated.
“The adult male cyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.”
Police say they’re looking for an automobile that was seen leaving the area and was headed toward the Two Nations Crossing roundabout.
“The vehicle would have sustained damage as a result of the collision,” the social-media alert said.
“The public is urged to come forward with any information that could assist in locating the vehicle and its driver.”
The police also appealed to the driver to come forward and to contact the force as soon as possible.
The driver, any witnesses, those with video footage of the incident or anyone else with relevant information is urged to call the city police force at 506-460-2300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 should they wish to remain anonymous.
Those providing tips can cite file no. 24-12187.
