UPDATE: Missing Fredericton man found - cops
City police force reported that Brandon Godin, 26, was last seen Tuesday, but court records show there’s been warrant outstanding for his arrest since early last month
The Fredericton Police Force announced Friday morning that a missing man about them it issued an alert Thursday has been found.
The force reported on social media Thursday morning that Brandon Godin, 26, of Fredericton, was last seen in the area of Two Nations Crossing on Tuesday morning.
However, in a followup advisory Friday morning, the force reported Godin “has been located safe and sound.”
Because the original social-media post made no mention of Godin being reported as missing or if there were concerns about his well-being, the Fredericton Independent inquired with the police force about whether Godin is believed to be missing or if police were looking for him in relation to some sort of investigation.
“This is a missing-persons case,” police spokesperson Megan Barker wrote in an email Thursday.
Records in Fredericton provincial court indicate there’s a warrant out for Godin’s arrest, though there’s no indication that Thursday’s alert is connected to a pending court case.
Godin faces a March 15 charge of criminal harassment, alleging he intended to harass Shelby Lynn Hamilton through repeated telecommunication on that date.
He was scheduled to make his first appearance on that charge June 7, but he was a no-show in court. As such, a judge issued the arrest warrant.
The harassment charge alleges it occurred in Fredericton, indicating it’s likely the result of a Fredericton Police Force investigation.
He also now faces a June 7 count of failing to attend court.
The court file lists his address as Brideau Lane in Penniac.
