Copper-theft suspect held on new charges
Jason Phillip Cote, 45, of Geary, denied conditional release after bail hearing last week
A Geary man who made headlines in an RCMP copper-theft investigation in May is now in custody on new charges alleging he fled from police and wielded an axe last week.
Jason Phillip Cote, 45, of Broad Road, was charged last week with July 8 counts of possessing a weapon (an axe) for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, fleeing from police in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and driving while his licence was suspended.
The Crown objected to his release, and a bail hearing was held Thursday in Fredericton provincial court.
