Cop busts drunk driver after bridge gaffe
Tanner J. McNeill, 28, of Chipman, attracted police attention at construction zone last fall
A Chipman man isn’t allowed to drive for the next year after admitting this week to an impaired-driving offence committed on Remembrance Day.
Tanner J. McNeill, 28, of Hillcrest Drive in Chipman, pleaded guilty in Fredericton provincial court Tuesday to a charge of having an elevated blood-alcohol level within two hours of driving.
Crown prosecutor Rodney Jordan said a Fredericton police officer was parked on Canada Street during a patrol shift at about 2:40 a.m. on Nov. 11 when he took note of a pickup truck driving through the neighbourhood.
The truck made an improper turn onto the Marysville Bridge - which is under construction and reduced to one-lane of traffic - prompting the officer to pull the vehicle over, court heard.
