Cop-assault suspect found fit
Counsel for Masoud Masoori, 33, of Lincoln, says he’s working with Crown to resolve case
A Lincoln man with a history of mental illness is fit to stand trial on charges of assaulting a Mountie and trying to take away his firearm, and his counsel said he’s working toward a resolution.
Masoud Masoori, 33, of Nevers Road, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Tuesday for a hearing on his mental state, as the court previously ordered he undergo a forensic psychiatric assessment to determine if he’s fit to stand trial.
He faces Feb. 6 counts of assaulting RCMP Const. Matthew Norzil, attempting to disarm the officer, and resisting Norzil and Const. Jeffrey Cameron.
