City to conduct ‘national search’ for new chief
City hall hopes to hire Fredericton’s next top cop within coming weeks, says spokesperson
With the Fredericton police chief’s recent announcement of his retirement, city hall is embarking on a national search for his replacement and hopes to hire someone by the fall.
Chief Martin Gaudet, in a news release and post to social media July 12, said he was retiring from his leadership post at the Fredericton Police Force effective Aug. 29.
The initial announcement made no mention of who’d serve as interim chief upon his departure or the city’s plans to hire the next chief.
