Warrant was out for James Daniel Beatteay, 48; cops mum on reason, potential charges
The Fredericton Police Force was on the hunt for a wanted man, issuing an alert Thursday morning about, but the suspect was in custody before lunchtime.
“Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating James Daniel Beatteay, 48 years old, who is wanted on a province-wide warrant,” the force said in a Facebook post Thursday morning.
The advisory made no mention of the reason for the warrant or if there are outstanding charges.
The alert was posted shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday, but within an hour and a half, police reported Beatteay was in custody.
“The Fredericton Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating James Daniel Beatteay, who was arrested shortly after the call to the public was made,” it reported in an update on social media.
Police spokesperson Sonya Gilks told the Fredericton Independent that the Saint John Police Force had secured the warrant for Beatteay’s arrest earlier this year.
