A Fredericton woman who skipped out on her trial in February on a charge of child endangerment has a new lawyer and faces a new charge of failing to attend court.

The 36-year-old woman previously pleaded not guilty to an April 19, 2024, count of unlawfully exposing a child under the age of 10 to risk, likely endangering that child’s life, and another charge of failing to attend court June 28, 2024.

There’s a court-ordered publication ban protecting the identity of the child referred to in the main charge, and to comply with that order, the Fredericton Independent isn’t naming the defendant given the connection between them.

The woman’s trial on those matters was supposed to be held Feb. 19 but she didn’t turn up in court that day.
