Charges withdrawn after witness no-show
Blake Evan Donald Wilson, 31, of no fixed address, had been scheduled to stand trial on allegation of assault with weapon, but complainant appears to be hiding from authorities
A Fredericton man on remand for a couple of months awaiting trial on an allegation of assault walked out of the courthouse a free man Tuesday after the complainant didn’t show up.
Blake Evan Donald Wilson, 31, of no fixed address, appeared in Fredericton provincial court in person and in custody Tuesday, scheduled for trial on charges of assault with a weapon (a lockbox) and breach of probation.
The charges alleged events in Fredericton on Aug. 28 against a female complainant, who’s identified only by initials on the assault charge.
Crown prosecutor Patricia Gillett said the trial couldn’t proceed, though.
