The largest employer in the Town of Nackawic is facing allegations of workplace-safety violations that stemmed from a spring 2023 incident in which a worker lost part of a limb.

WorkSafe New Brunswick, the province’s workplace-safety watchdog agency, filed charges under the Occupational Health and Safety Act recently against AV Nackawic, which operates a pulp mill in that community.

Those counts allege that the business failed to provide adequate safeguards to prevent contact with a moving drive and that it failed to take reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of an employee, both on April 24, 2023.
