Car linked to missing man found
Michael Keetch, 49, of Waasis, disappearance more than one year ago, but RCMP announced Tuesday that officers have located a Hyundai Elantra he might have driven
While police have yet to locate a Waasis man who went missing more than a year ago, officers have located a car they think he might have been driving while he disappeared.
The RCMP issued a news release last spring about an investigation into the whereabouts of Michael Keetch, 49, of Waasis.
The force reported he was reported as missing to police April 30, 2025, but that he had last been seen on Nevers Road in Waasis on April 12, 2025.
The Oromocto detachment of the RCMP also released a photo of a red 2019 Hyundai Elantra with New Brunswick licence plate JTZ 034, stating it was believed the missing man might have been driving it when he went missing.
In an update issued Tuesday, police said that car had been found.
“The Hyundai Elantra that was believed to be in connection with missing [49-year-old] Michael Keetch has been recovered,” the Oromocto detachment announced on social media Tuesday.
The Mounties also announced last July that an extensive ground search was conducted around the 3500 block of Route 104 in Central Hainesville at that time, though it wasn’t clear if search teams were looking for Keetch, the Elantra or other evidence.

When he was first announced as missing, Keetch was described as being about 6’2” (191 centimetres) tall, weighing about 253 pounds (115 kilograms), with green eyes and brown hair.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call the Oromocto RCMP detachment at 506-357-4300.
