A convicted sex offender scheduled to stand trial Monday on an allegation he violated a court-ordered registration requirement opted instead to admit to the crime.

Darren James Wright, 41, of Ian Street in Burton, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Monday for his trial on an Oct. 31, 2022, charge of breaching a court order issued under the Sex Offender Information Registration Act (SOIRA).
