Fredericton police seek tips on assault with weapon Friday night that sent one to hospital
A man sustained “life-threatening injuries” and remains in serious condition after an assault with a weapon in downtown Fredericton on Friday night, the city police report.
The Fredericton Police Force issued a news release Sunday afternoon about a late-night incident with perilous consequences.
“On Friday, May 16, 2025, at approximately 11 p.m., members of the Fredericton Police Force responded to a report of an assault with a weapon on Brunswick Street,” it said.
“Upon arrival, officers located one male who had sustained life-threatening injuries.”
That man was transported to hospital, the force said, and he remains “in serious but stable condition.”
The police force advised it doesn’t believe there’s an ongoing threat to the general public, as the assault is thought to be an isolated incident.
The release made no mention of an arrest in the case.
Police said the investigation continues and urged anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to call 506-460-2300.
