All of N.B. under severe thunderstorm watch
Environment and Climate Change Canada issues weather advisory for entire province
The federal weather service has issued an advisory for New Brunswick that atmospheric conditions are optimal Monday for some extreme weather, including strong winds and heavy rain.
Environment and Climate Change Canada’s weather service issued severe thunderstorm watches of all areas of the province Monday afternoon.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain,” the alert stated.
“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.”
The weather services puts out such severe thunderstorm watches when conditions converge in a manner that are favourable for the development of thunderstorms, specifically systems that have the potential to produce large hail, damaging winds and/or downpours of rain.
The weather service also warned of the dangers of other aspects of such storms.
“Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year,” the thunderstorm watch said, adding that people should go indoors when they hear thunder.
