Adult sentences sought for underage suspects
Three youths, one adult face manslaughter charges in death of André Bourgeois, 41, of Grande-Digue, days after assault in Tannery area of downtown Fredericton on Sept. 22
The Crown will seek adult sentences for three minors should they be convicted of manslaughter in a case stemming from a Grande-Digue man’s death after an assault in Fredericton.
Three boys - two from the Fredericton area, aged 16 and 17; and one from the Woodstock area, age 17 - as well as Tyler Totten, 19, of Lower Truro, N.S., appeared in Fredericton court Wednesday to answer to a count of manslaughter.
The four were charged individually with that serious charge after André Bourgeois, 41, of Grande-Digue, died days after a Sept. 22 incident in the Tannery in Fredericton’s downtown bar district.
The Fredericton Police Force alleges the defendants assaulted Bourgeois that night, and the injuries he sustained ultimately led to his death Sept. 27.
