A Fredericton man who stole a single mother’s debit card and drained more than $300 from her account in short order told a court he wants addictions treatment and a better life.
Matthew Dillon McLaughlin, 39, of no fixed address, appeared in Fredericton provincial court in person and in custody Friday for a sentencing hearing.
He’d pleaded guilty last month to stealing Albany Paul’s debit card and thereby defrauding her of a sum of money Sept. 12, 2023, and to breaching his probation Sept. 21.
