Accused blames fatal crash on dead woman

A Fredericton man accused of causing the death of the mother of his kids by driving dangerously and while high offered a preview of his defence in court Tuesday, stating, “She was driving.”
Brandon Robert Reid, 37, of Douglas Avenue, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by telephone from the Southeast Regional Correctional Centre in Shediac on Tuesday, scheduled to elect mode of trial and enter pleas on several charges.

He’s accused of Oct. 25 counts of driving while impaired by cocaine and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and thereby causing the death of Justice Paul, having an elevated blood-drug concentration within two hours of driving and causing Paul’s death, and driving dangerously, causing her death.
