$80K seized in drugs, cash last week - cops
Officer response at Hanwell trailer park home June 5 led to discovery of meth, fentanyl, cocaine, currency, bear mace; Hoyt man arrested, released on promise to appear in court
A call to police from a mobile home in Hanwell led to the discovery of narcotics, cash and more items associated with the drug trade worth tens of thousands, police report.
The Fredericton Police Force issued a news release Wednesday morning, advising of the discovery of a significant stash of drugs the week before in the Hanwell Mini-Home Community.
“On June 5, 2024, at approximately 7 a.m., Fredericton police patrols responded to a call for service on Leafwood Crescent. where they discovered drugs, cash, equipment and weapons, with an estimated street value of nearly $80,000,” the release said.
Officers seized quantities of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, hydromorphone, cocaine and psilocybin (magic mushrooms).
“Also seized were cash, bear mace, scales and other equipment,” it said.
A 35-year-old Hoyt man was arrested, though he was subsequently released subject to the conditions of a police undertaking and a promise to appear in court at a later date, the release said.
Police reported that it’s expected he’ll face charges of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon and possession of the proceeds of crime.
“The file remains under investigation,” the release said.
