Two brothers told a court Monday that the horrors of being shot 16 months ago continues to haunt them, forever changing who they are and how they interact with people.

Blake R. Holt, 24, of Forest Hill Road in Fredericton, shot Daniel Gallant and Corey Vaillancourt in a Hanwell mobile home in the early-morning hours of Dec. 2, 2022, and he appeared at the Burton Courthouse in person and in custody Monday before Court of King’s Bench Justice Richard Petrie for his sentencing hearing for that crime and others.

Holt had originally elected to be tried in the Court of King’s Bench by a judge and jury on charges of discharging a firearm at Gallant and Vaillancourt with intent to wound, maim, disfigure or endanger them; robbing Gallant of jewelry and keys, and masking his face during an offence.

But he later re-elected trial by King’s Bench judge alone and pleaded guilty to robbery, twice discharging the firearm and making his face during the robbery.
