Capital-region outages resolved
Thousands in Fredericton and surrounding communities hit by outages Sunday afternoon
More than 22,000 NB Power customers in the capital region found themselves without electricity Sunday afternoon, but the problems were rectified in short order.
NB Power’s website reports that 22,664 customers in the Central York/Sunbury region were affected by a cluster of outages Sunday afternoon.

Among the communities affected are Fredericton, Oromocto, Hanwell, Lincoln, New Maryland, Beaver Dam, Charters Settlement, Nasonworth, Rusagonis, Waasis, French Lake, Geary, Haneytown, Waterville-Sunbury, Welsford, Porter Cove and Taxis River.
Almost 4,100 of those affected customers have estimated restoration times of 2 to 3 p.m., but there was no posted estimate for the remainder as of 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
Utility spokesperson D’Arcy Walsh told the Fredericton Independent shortly after 2:30 p.m. that power had been restored to the affected customers.
The NB Power website listed only 12 unplanned outages in the capital region at that time affected only 129 customers.
Walsh said what caused the outages isn't yet known.
“Our crews are currently investigating the cause of the issue,” she wrote in an email.
