A Fredericton man who claimed Monday violating the terms of his sex-offender registration order was the result of a calendar-related mistake, but a judge sentenced him to jail time, citing a repeated pattern of behaviour.

Chad Robert Randall, 52, of Young Street, pleaded guilty in November in Fredericton provincial court to a charge of breaching a Sex Offender Information Registration Act (SOIRA) order requiring him to check in annually at his local registration centre Dec. 14, 2024.

He was back in court before Judge Mélanie Poirier LeBlanc for his sentencing hearing.
