Woman subjected to ‘campaign of terror'
Chad Rex Kendell, 36, of Greenhill, not only assaulted and threatened victim, court hears, he burned down cabin on her property, posted compromising image of her on social media
A former Fredericton resident who assaulted a woman, torched a building on her rural property and shared a compromising photo of her online is hoping to avoid time behind bars for his crimes.
Chad Rex Kendell, 36, formerly of Fredericton and now residing on Route 625 in Greenhill, 40 kilometres west of the capital, was back in Fredericton provincial court Friday for a sentencing hearing.
Though he originally pleaded not guilty to numerous charges, he later changed those pleas to guilty.
Kendall admitted to stealing that a Penniac woman’s cellphone and distributing an intimate image of her Sept. 15, 2024; breaking into her home in Penniac on Nov. 22, 2024; setting fire to a cabin on her rural property on Nov. 24, 2024; repeatedly breaching a police undertaking prohibiting him from contact with her; uttering a threat to a different woman, Megan Tallick, on Dec. 5, 2024; assaulting the original complainant and uttering a threaten to burn her property Dec. 14; and stealing a GMC Savana van, driving while impaired and breaching a judicial release order Feb. 8.
