Warrant issued for no-show Ont. suspect
Kaiden Kanalas, 18, of Welland, Ont., was supposed to enter pleas Monday on charges alleging he possessed stolen Ford Fiesta, stolen licence plates near Fredericton last month
A young Ontario man who was supposed to appear in Fredericton provincial court to answer to stolen-property charges Monday didn’t appear when his case was called, and neither did any lawyer.
Kaiden Kanalas, 18, of Welland, Ont., was arrested in Lincoln, outside Fredericton, on Dec. 17 and charged with counts alleging he possessed a stolen Ford Fiesta belonging to Suburban Auto Parts Inc. in Ontario, possessed stolen licence plates, breached probation, and that he breached a court order barring him from from driving any car or possessing licence plates of any kind.
Though he was initially held for a bail hearing, the Crown consented to his release Dec. 22, subject to conditions that included attending court.
