Uptown slashing suspect denies charges

A Fredericton man accused of slashing another man with a knife during the course of an alleged robbery at an uptown store earlier this year is headed to trial on several indictable charges.

Colin Jaffar Rogers, 29, formerly of Westbrook Lane, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by telephone Friday, and attending in person was his defence counsel, lawyer Tim Murphy.

Rogers faces March 20 counts of aggravated assault on Joseph Godin by wounding him and endangering his life, assault on Godin with a utility knife, robbery by assaulting Godin, possession of a machete for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, assault on Fredericton police Const. Deana Joka and resisting arrest.
