An elderly Fredericton man denied sexual-abuse allegations Friday - including a charge that he had intercourse with his grandchild - and his provincial-court trial is now set for March 2027.

The 70-year-old defendant appeared in Fredericton provincial court Friday, accompanied by defence counsel Edward Derrah.

The accused is charged with having sexual intercourse with a minor knowing that child was his grandchild, sexually assaulting that same complainant and another minor, touching both of them for a sexual purpose, inviting them to touch him sexually, touching them sexually while in a position of trust and/or authority over them and making sexually explicit material available to them, all in Fredericton between Jan. 1, 2020, and Sept. 1, 2023.
